Case Study | Digicon 3000
Digicon 3000 Machine For Flexible Technologies
Flexible Technologies LLC required a solution (digicon 3000 machine) for their go-to market digital flexible packaging strategy.
Solution
The Digicon 3000, custom-built and includes (but not limited to) thermal lamination capability as well as ebeam (EB) curing technology.
The Digicon 3000 is a mid-web finishing solution for digitally printed flexible packaging and labels. It is highly configurable, offering numerous different options including finishing for labels, shrink sleeves packaging and POS/POP as well as inline coating and lamination of flexible packaging and labels.
Benefit
Flexible Technologies are now successfully running their machine with thermal laminations that yield extremely high-quality packaging with very little set up.
ebeam intergration benefits include improved print integrity, instant curing and visual presentation as well as substantially increased package durability and abrasion resistance.
The curing process requires no solvents and requires little energy, which is great for the environment. ebeam inks lack photoinitiators, so the risk of migration and contamination from food packaging is negated, ensuring a safe food solution for indirect contact materials.
The Edale engineers have the expertise to spec and build very high-end machines that just work. The Edale/FlexTech partnership will be a long-term one and we are excited to see what we develop next!
