Edale, who are engineers of world-class printing and converting solutions for the packaging industry are delighted to announce that NSD Labels has chosen them for their new acquisition. NSD has invested in the highly automated FL3, 430mm, (16.9)” web width, eight-colour flexographic label press.

The press has been configured to specific NSDs requirements and comes with a turnbar rail system, rail-mounted cold foil, and lamination module. It’s also equipped with a fully autonomous camera register system (EZ Reg), EZ Die cutter, and a break-free waste matrix. They have also customised further with the latest UV LED curing technology, crossover module, extra Die cutter and screen unit.

Chris Hogarth, who was appointed Managing Director of NSD in 2019, explains the background of this successful business which has seen continued growth over the years.

“The Simpson Label Company Limited, trading as NSD Labels, was formed in 1858 in Edinburgh and has traded since then, making it one of the oldest established printing companies in the UK. In the 1980s, the company was acquired by a Dutch business and has traded using the name NSD since 2007. Self-adhesive labels have been our main product line for the last 25 years, and we are specialists in the label market sector.

Chris continues: In early 2020, we had discussions with Edale about a new press. Ultimately, we decided to invest in more specialised finishing equipment; however, we had productive discussions with Edale and very successful trials.
We knew of Edale as they are well known in the flexo label press sector, and our industry colleagues spoke highly of their equipment.

This left us in no doubt that Edale could supply us with machinery that suited our needs well. In 2022, we decided it was time to reopen our flexo investment programme, and we had an easy choice in the end. Edale was very focused on giving us what we needed, and the fact that they are in the UK was also a consideration.

The machines are well-engineered, proven workhorses, and we ‘did a deal’ in a matter of days, all over a few online meetings.”
